| LINDA'S CREDENTIALS |
Florida Historic Homes is a creation stemming from a print product that I produced in the
early '90's in West Palm Beach. At the time, Floridians were only starting to discover that
we had historic heritage -- and one which was worth saving. "Historic Home News" was a
monthly newsletter which detailed the trials and successes of the early historic movement in
West Palm Beach.
Now that there are clearly established historic districts, and residents no longer need to be
persuaded that the old neighborhoods and housing products are worth saving (in fact are
now hot products both in terms of interest and value) .... the need for a print news version
waned ...
For years then, my involvement with historic districts broadened into other areas: I
developed my real estate career specializing in the sale of historic properties; I personally
renovated a number of historic homes; I served for more than 10 years on the Board of a
neighborhood association which is a West Palm Beach historic district; and I served for
seven years (four years as Chair) of the West Palm Beach Historic Preservation Board.
Those being my credentials .... I still had my old newsletters in the back of my mind ... and
what could become of them. A lot of their information is now dated, but a basic
informational core spurred the mental impetus that became the foundation of this website.
My mission then is to provide visitors with as much information as possible on Florida
history, particularly Palm Beach County and West Palm Beach. Links are provided
throughout the site to municipal and cultural sites that a history aficionado might wish to visit
... along with current news and reference materials on a multitude of topics.
This site is, most assuredly, still under construction. If I wait until everything I want to put
on-line is ready, it will never become a live site. So ... please understand that there will be
information added continually to provide the most current information and links.
